daydream

View from my favourite spot on campus, Mount Scopus, East Jerusalem.

Visible in the foreground is a Palestinian territory, The 'wall' (Fence/Barrier/Aparheid wall/separation fence/security fence, whatever) and the Judean desert.

In the background is the dead sea and Jordan.

Here is the footage of Gilad Shalit taken by his abductors over a year ago.

I reckon Jerusalem might take some adjustment.

Long day

Israeli soldier  Gilad Shalit has been abducted and held hostage by Hamas somewhere in Gaza since 2006 (1561 days to be exact).

Just up the street from my house, and seen here, his mother sits outside the president's house every.single.day waiting for her son to come home.

Kibbutz Kids

Borrowing from communism, the Kibbutz lifestyle is a non-religious, utilitarian and democratic one.

Though most kibbutzim have gone private over the last couple of decades, the mentality of 'Everything belonging to everyone' remains.

Shine On

Taken at the 100th year anniversary of the first kibbutz in Israel- Kibbutz Degania.

Originally established by "Jewish Zionists" under ottoman empire, a kibbutz remains a sort of socialist agricultural commune (read: hippie).

Spring Hill - Tel Aviv

Self portrait in Neve Tzedek.

Hard to believe that this area used to be desolate sand dunes less than a hundred years ago.

Uncle Shabbes

Founded in 1887, Neve Tzedek was the very first neighbourhood in Tel Aviv and remains home to many artists.
Definitely one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Tel Aviv.

Oasis of Peace - Neve Tzedek

The cultural centre of Neve Tzedek is lined with studios, cafe's, boutiques and beautiful architecture.
